Favorite Tools
Other than the usual suspects of Dreamweaver, Illustrator and Photoshop, I like to use:
- Firefox Plugins:
- HTML Validator - basically shows a green checkmark if the page is valid
- Web Developer - view css, show div breakup, and more
- MeasureIt - measure sizes on screen; also can see if things really line up with taking screenshots
- Firebug - inspect, fix, HTML/CSS bugs*
- Sage - rss reader

About the Area
Hampton Roads is a gorgeous region in Virginia. I haven’t been able to find, however, a central location of all the tech events/clubs/foo. So here are a few things to get other technology fans started.
- Pretty Tasty! Tidewater’s Creative Kitchen forum - has events, job postings and critique areas
- Hampton Roads Adobe Professional User Group - if Williamsburg is too far, there’s an Adobe group in Virginia Beach
- AIGA Hampton Roads - I’ve been {this close} to joining this Norfolk-based club for years
- VECTEC calendar
- HRTC events
- Virginia’s CIT organization
- Hampton Roads AITP
- Peninsula Women’s Network - networking is good
